This summer, journey to the "real Antarctica"!
Antarctica is one of the few places on Earth where the planet’s natural state remains largely untouched.Because changes in the ice, atmosphere, oceans, and ecosystems can be observed directly, it is an invaluable field site for understanding the global environment.
For the past 70 years, Japan has conducted observations in Antarctica, making major contributions to our understanding of climate change and our ability to predict the future.
Rather than simply presenting these achievements, this exhibition allows you to experience them for yourself.
Immerse yourself in breathtaking large-scale projections that make you feel like you are actually setting foot on Antarctica. Experience what it feels like to walk through the fierce winds of a blizzard, examine ice cores containing hundreds of thousands of years of Earth’s history, view meteorites discovered in Antarctica, and examine specimens of Antarctic wildlife.
Through footage of glaciers and the aurora, as well as exhibits about Showa Station, you can learn about the conditions in which Antarctic observation teams conduct their research.
