Hydrographic and Oceanographic Museum

A museum showcasing the work of the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Department

The Hydrographic and Oceanographic Museum is operated by the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Department, Japan Coast Guard. This is the agency responsible for producing nautical charts.
Besides a variety of nautical charts, there are also valuable instruments used for surveying the ocean on display.
It also features a large 3D map that allows visitors to view the seafloor topography in three dimensions, as well as a craft corner where visitors can make paper bags by reusing old nautical charts, offering a fun, experiential way to learn about the ocean and nautical charts.
