Geo Spatial Expo <Venue: Miraikan>

This is a place where government, industry and academia will collaborate and promote the utilization and application of geospatial information and satellite positioning in order to actualize a high usage of geospatial information (G-spatial society).

In recent years, we have seen remarkable technological innovation in information communication such as the popularization of Cloud, the penetration of SNS, and the service expansion by Mashup. Also an also the environment in which we can acquire location and time (G-Spatial) information anywhere and at any time to help for our daily life and economic activities is being created by the rapid popularization of smart phones and use of wireless communication environments such as Wi-Fi is now about to be realized.

Furthermore, a major development for the future is also expected in the field of satellite positioning, while the first quasi-zenith satellite "Michibiki" that makes more advanced positioning possible launched in September 2009. Plans to develop a 4 satellite system are also going to be implemented in the late 2010s with expansion to a 7 satellite system in the future.

In light of this, "G-Spatial EXPO" has so far been was held twice, in September 2010 and June 2012 in collaboration with government, industry and academia to expand the foundation of the G-Spatial environment on the basis of the "Basic Plan on the Advancement of Utilizing Geospatial Information (approved by the Cabinet in March 27, 2012)". We have been achieving the development of G-space related industries by with promoting more understanding in the general public for actualizing a G-Spatial society.

With consideration of these accomplishments, "G-Spatial EXPO 2013", will aggregate the most advanced technologies and services of G-Spatial information and provide a place to introduce Japanese technologies and services for the future to the general public with exhibitions, lectures/symposiums, and experience events. We will also utilize the EXPO as a place to establish new technologies and services and stimulate proposals and originality from the private sector in relation to upgrading and developing the existing technologies and services.
