The World of Craftsman Yukio Nakayama: Wooden Japanese Ships of the Edo Era [Part 1] (April 29th – May 14th) <Venue: Museum of Maritime Science>

We present to you a collection of 1/70 scale models, precisely and carefully hand-built over many years by famed Edo-era Japanese wooden ship craftsman, Yukio Nakayama. This collection includes over 120 types of Japanese-style craft, with roughly 200 models on display. In addition we will be showcasing Nakayama's considerable collection of architectural models; including shrines, temples, townhouses, warehouses, lighthouses, and more, in this stunning diorama.

During [Part 1] of this exhibition, in addition to the museum's own collection of model ships, we will also introduce a collection of illustrations, colour prints, and panels, depicting a variety of sailboats used in Edo-era Kanto.

Furthermore, on April 29th and 30th, May 3rd – 7th, and from May 12th – 14th, a total of 10 days) Mr. Nakayama will be performing his accompanying stage show. You'll feel like you stepped back in time into Edo Japan, as you delve into the exciting world of Mr. Nakayama's wooden creations!
